Password Reset Portal


​The Joliet Junior College Information Security department, in conjunction with the Information Technology Division has implemented a new identity and access management solution. The powerful combination of the password registration and reset portal allow users to easily enroll in self-service password reset. The solution is device agnostic meaning that students, faculty and staff can access the portal on any device, using any operating system.

In this document we will cover how to utilize the self-service password reset functionality of the Password Reset portal.

UTILIZING THE PASSWORD RESET PORTAL

This guide assumes completion of the Password Registration process through use of the Password Registration portal. That process was outlined in the preceding guide Understanding the Password Registration Portal. If you have not completed the steps outlined in the preceding guide Understanding the Password Registration Portal, you will not be able to complete the steps in this guide.


Now that you have complete the password registration process and set you security questions, let’s cover the Password Reset portal:

  1. Navigate to https://pwreset.jjc.edu
  2. You will be immediately prompted to enter your email address:
  3. Next, you will be prompted to answer your security questions:
    1. Note that there are only two questions displayed and only one answer is necessary for password reset, though we answered four earlier.
    2. The four questions are randomized for security reasons and only two are displayed.
  4. Assuming that you answered the questions correctly, you will be prompted to change your password:
    1. Note the length, precedence and complexity rules:
      1. Passwords must be at least eight characters
      2. You cannot use any of the previous 3 passwords set
      3. Uppercase characters of the English language (A-Z)
      4. Lowercase characters of the English language (a-z)
      5. Base 10 digits (0-9)
      6. Special characters: ~!@#$%^&*_-+=`|\(){}[]:;"'<>,.?/
  5. Assuming that the length, precedence and complexity rules are met and that the passwords matched, you will be greeted by the Password Reset success page:
