Returning Students

A returning student is one who has a gap in his or her attendance at JJC. If the student has not taken courses at JJC for one year or more, he or she will need to fill out a new application. Follow the steps below if you consider yourself a returning student.

Step 1

If it's been one or more years, complete an admission application (just as if you are a first time student) at Students will receive an acknowledgement letter in the mail and a follow-up e-mail sent to their JJC e-mail account.

Step 2

Obtain your JJC username and password at to access your account.

Step 3

Submit your official (sealed) high school transcript or high school equivalency (GED, HiSET, TASC) transcript to the Admissions Office at Main Campus, A-1020 if not already on file with the college.

Step 4

Take the Placement Test* if needed. Visit Academic Skills Center for more information on testing and preparation materials.

Step 5

Apply for finacial aid and scholarships at**

Step 6

Contact the Counseling Department at (815) 280-2673 (Main) or (815) 886-3000 (Romeoville) or your faculty advisor to clairfy educational goals and select courses. Walk-in hours ae also available (call for availability). Walk-in meetings are liminted to 20 minutes.



Joliet Junior College also affords returning adult students a one-time opportunity to correct poor past academic performance in order to reach new educational goals. After successful completion of 12 JJC credit hours (100+ level courses) with a minimum 2.0 GPA, the student can complete the application process to "forgive" prior grades.
